The July 11 lineup features the Special Occasion Band, starting at 6:00 PM at 6231 Lisa Drive, and that same Saturday morning Sunny's Market runs at Oak Ridge Town Park, 8326 Linville Road, from 10:00 AM. If you plan the day correctly, one drive covers both.

A short walk from the amphitheater, the greenway network gives residents a way to work off the barbecue. Popular Oak Ridge hiking options include the Atlantic and Yadkin Greenway Loop, Owl's Roost Trail, the Palmetto Trail, and the Nathaniel Greene Trail. On the days the humidity relents, the Atlantic and Yadkin is the one most residents default to for a stroller-friendly evening lap.

Oak Ridge's restaurant lineup is small enough that most locals cycle through the same six spots, and each one solves a different problem. - You want seafood without driving to the coast. Ridge Shrimp & Oyster, same shopping center at Suite L. Dinner only, 5:00 to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday. Local, not a chain.
- The kids are with you and someone is watching a game. StokeRidge Tavern, sitting between Oak Ridge and Stokesdale, has been the neighborhood spot for 15 years, with live music on the patio.
- Taco night, no debate. Rio Grande Kitchen & Cantina at 2213 Oak Ridge Road. Same strip.
- You want history with your slice. Big Ed's Pizza in historic Jackson Square was named one of USA Today's 51 greatest pizza parlors in 2013 and has been serving pies since 1970.
- You forgot to make a plan and want to sit outside with a beer. Oak Ridge's craft beer market has over 20 taps on a spacious patio. Locally, that is Oak Ridge Craft & Vine.
Jackson Square deserves its own note. The building that housed Jackson Square Pharmacy for nearly 55 years has been renovated into Dean's, serving lunch, brunch, and dinner as an American restaurant that's more than a classic meat-and-three. If you have not walked the square in a year, walk it again.
The Morning Errand That Became a Ritual
The Old Mill of Guilford is a fully operational, formerly water-powered 18th-century grist mill on the National Register of Historic Places, founded on Beaver Creek in 1767, still producing all-natural stone-ground whole grain foods over 240 years later. It sits at 1340 NC-68 in Oak Ridge, roughly ten minutes from most Oak Ridge front doors, and it functions as the town's Saturday morning excuse.
The tell that this is more than a tourist stop: the Mill supplies Lucky 32 and Green Valley Grill with all of their grits. Two of the best-known kitchens in Greensboro cook with something ground on your side of NC-68. The signature mix is the Sweet Potato Muffin. Buy a bag, make them Sunday morning, and you have solved brunch through Labor Day.
